Wrestling my Cellphone in LA

There are other colors in the world besides gray. I had almost forgotten. I snapped a pic of the flowers around the hotel while my roomie Bobbi Smith (Queen of Western Romance) and I were in search of a little grocery where we could stock up on essentials like Coke Zero and bagels. I thought I emailed the pics to myself but they seem to be still stuck in my phone.

Heavy sigh. It’s hard when your smart phone is smarter than you.

But it’s good to be surrounded by people who’re smarter than me here at the Romantic Times Convention. Yesterday, I got a chance to reconnect with Jade Lee aka Kathy Lyons for a panel on sensuality. And I met fellow Brava author Mary Wine. My goodness! The woman holds a black belt and showed up in an 1894 late Victorian walking suit wearing a suffragette banner. She sewed the whole thing with her own talented fingers. She writes amazing historicals. I wonder if there’s anything she can’t do!

Yesterday I taught workshops on plotting and characterization as well as the sensuality panel. Today we’ll be wrapping things up with the Aspiring Writers. They’re a good group and very enthusiastic. They’ll have a chance to listen to some editors and agents and pick their brains.

Hopefully, I’ll figure out how to get the photos off my phone.

I agree with Nynke, get a pic of Ms. Wine in her creative costume — just keep taking pictures, and figure out how to get them out of the phone later! NOW you understand why I don’t want a cell phone … I prefer my illusion of being smart, and don’t want to be told I’m not by a thing (bad enough by other actual people!) :-) — Keep having fun!

Normally, I love my smart phone. But that’s usually because I have smarter DH close by to help me figure out how to use it!

I hope he’s reading this … a nice ego boost, especially when he’s missing you!

          Aww… that’s a sweet thought :)

Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and give my smartphone-lover’s advice, just in case… emailing a picture from the gallery should work, but if it doesn’t and you’ve got several pictures you want on your laptop, using a usb cable will be easier anyhow.
If you plug it in, your laptop will treat your telephone’s memory card like any other external storage device. Just check if your phone gives you the option to do something with data when you plug it in, otherwise it might go into charging (but not connecting) mode.

        Good luck!

    Hi Mia,

pity about the picture! I wonder what went wrong (and feel an urge to fix it but can’t)… Please don’t stop trying!

Mary Wine sounds fascinating and very, very cool. I’d love to see a picture of her in her outfit too!

And glad to hear you’re surrounded by colours and fun, enthusiastic people. :)
