What a Difference a Week Makes

Last week I snapped this picture of the trees just outside the front door of our building. There’s no need for us to drive into the countryside to see the glorious colors of New England. Autumn comes to us.

Then a few blustery days later, I took a shot of the same tree.

How the mighty are fallen…

Autumn always makes me pensive. And yet, there is beauty even in barrenness. The bones of this tree have a splendid symmetry that might go unnoticed when it’s in full leaf. Sometimes change happens to reveal what lies beneath, in autumn trees and in our lives.

Have you had any revealing changes lately? Don’t worry. It’s rhetorical. I don’t expect you to share anything so private on this public forum. Of course, if you decide to, I’m all ears.

I’m also blogging elsewhere today. You can find me at SECRETS OF SEVEN SCRIBES. In my interview I share the wackiest book idea I ever came up with. I’m also giving away a copy of My Lady Below Stairs to a random commenter over there, so hope to see you at 7SCRIBES!

We having burning bushes in the front of our house and just as they get beautiful with their red leaves, along comes a windstorm.

I was afraid we’d lose more leaves a few weeks ago when we had the first measurable snowfall of the season. It’s been a lovely fall here though.
