Switching Hats

For the last two days, I’ve been in teacher mode. Barb Riley, one of my students, snapped this pic. Looks like I’m teaching them how to hold a teacup pinky out, but it was probably taken during my plotting workshop.

It was great fun to work with the Aspiring Writers, but now the real RT convention begins. It’s a whirlwind of activity–parties, mixers, some workshops and panels–but it means I need to change my focus now.

I have to put on my professional writer hat. This morning I’ll have a sit down with Alicia Condon, my delightful editor from Kensington. It’ll mean a chance to pick her brain and generally catch up from the last time we had a face to face a year ago.

Then later in the afternoon, I’ll put on my wild woman hat in preparation for the Sultry Sirens of History mixer. All the sponsors are coming in costume as a famous woman from the past. Since we’re in LA, I chose to come as an early film star. Here’s a hint: I’ll be inviting folks to “come up and see me sometime!”

Pictures will be forthcoming. I promise!

Snap a picture of you as Mae West! Have fun.

  2. What a fun picture – the bear looks like he’s eyeing the book instead of paying attention to teacher.

These conference posts are whetting my appetite for NEC.

We’re going to have a ball in Salem, Anna! I’m so glad I’ll see you there.
