Sunrise with a Notorious Lord by Alexandra Hawkins

Alexandra HawkinsUSA Today Bestseller Alexandra Hawkins is an unrepentant Anglophile who discovered romance novels as a teenager and knew that one day she would be writing her own. In “The Lords of Vice” series, she combines her love of English history, mythology, and romance to create sensual character-driven stories that, she hopes, will touch readers’ hearts.

I’m delighted to have her as one of my spotlight authors today.

Generally, I’m not a huge fan of book trailers, but Alexandra’s is drop-dead beautiful. I encourage you to play through the trailer in order to learn more about her newest release, Sunrise With a Notorious Lord. The visuals are stunning. And the hero is to die for!

This hour, I’ll also be choosing another reader to receive an ebook of my Maidensong for winner’s choice of Kindle or Nook.

One of the things I loved about researching Vikings was discovering how differently women were treated in their culture. When even the well-born daughters of Europe were treated as chattel and used to cement alliances without their permission, Norse women were always given a choice. They had an advanced system of divorce laws and women could own property as easily as a man.

Remember today is Touch of a Rogue‘s release day!

Compared to most Victorian women, Lady Julianne enjoys a good deal of freedom. That’s because she’s a widow. If she were a wife, she would have the same legal status as a minor. However, her freedom is fleeting since her step-son holds her purse strings.

That’s why she needs Jacob Preston’s help in locating the last dagger out of six Druid blades. Her husband died under mysterious circumstances while he was trying to reunite the magical set.

Hi Alexandra and Mia ! I love historical because the historical ladies are usually a great sample of women whose bravery far outstreched the time they live in:). They are the role model of women to brave to be just themselves:)

  23. Sheila Mulholland says:

Loved the trailer, hot and sexy!!!

  24. StacieD says:

Part of the reason I enjoy reading historical romances is the gender inequality. The women in many different time periods had to be very clever in order to get what they wanted. Their social structure might keep them from having much freedom or power but their intellect helped them get around those obstacles. I love to see a heroine outsmart the people trying to keep her down.
