Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes one to bring an author to her 20th published work. I’ve been blessed along the way by help from so many people. First, heartfelt thanks to my DH and family who encouraged me to write, put up with take-out and learned to do their own laundry–and mine! Then to the writers in Eastside RWA. I’m indebted to that group, most especially Darcy Carson, for teaching me the rudiments of writing romance. Without her frequent kicks in the pants, I would never have been published.
I’ve been fortunate to work with a wonderful agent, Natasha Kern, who connected me with my editors Leah Hultenschmidt at Sourcebooks and Alicia Condon at Kensington. They’ve both been incredible to write for. All the people at both those houses, from marketing, to sales, to cover art & copy edits, have been stellar to me. I look forward to continuing my association with both these amazing publishers and am happy to confirm I’m under contract to deliver more Regency & Scottish stories for them.
One of the loveliest things about writing has been getting to know other writers. Deepest thanks to the generous women who helped me celebrate by offering their books as prizes. Your friendship means the world to me. I’d also like to give a shout out to the ladies of Rock*it Reads , Casablanca Authors and the Jaunty Quills for their daily support! I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the help I’ve received from the writer’s groups I’ve been affiliated with over the years–WisRWA, ORA, & NECRWA. Special thanks to my critique partner Ashlyn Chase and my beloved beta reader Marcy Weinbeck. They see my words in the raw and still encourage me!
And last, but by no means least, I want to thank YOU, dear reader. The thought that someone plunks down their hard-earned cash for my stories is humbling. I hope I give you reason to smile, to laugh, and maybe to cry a tear or two. Thank you for coming along on my imaginary journeys and trying on my heroine’s shoes. Thank you for all the cards and emails and comments on my blog, FB & Twitter over the years.
They say love transforms us. Your love has certainly transformed me.
